Jill Watson was born in Edinburgh in 1957. She spent five years at the Edinburgh College of Art. She procedeed to Italy to learn to carve marble and work in bronze beside the artisans in the workshops and studios of Pietrasanta near Carrara.
She is a figurative sculptor who works mainly in bronze carrying many major public commissions and represented in galleries in many countries. She works between her studios in Edinburgh and Pietrasanta. She is married to the architect, Benjamin Tindall, with whom she has often collaborated.
The concept, design and construction will advance the Arts and greatly add to the significant maritime legacy of Scotland and of Leith.
